If you're one of the more than five million Canadian adults who have high blood pressure, or you're at risk of developing this life threatening condition, chances are you're looking for trusted information and a convenient way to track your progress.

Look no further.

Every Dell pharmacist can provide you with:

  • helpful information on controlling high blood pressure
  • advice on the most effective way to take your medications and
  • support and encouragement to help you achieve your exercise and dietary goals.

Plus, almost all of our Dell Pharmacy locations offer a convenient and accurate digital blood pressure monitoring kiosk and an electronic Smart Card recording system so you can track your blood pressure results with confidence.

Dell Pharmacy's Automated Blood Pressure Monitoring Kiosks

Regular digital blood pressure monitoring provides the feedback you need for controlling high blood pressure and treating low blood pressure. Dell Pharmacy's free automated blood pressure monitoring kiosks put you in control.

Simply slide into the seat, slip your arm into the blood pressure monitor sleeve and follow the posted instructions. In no time you'll have an accurate measurement of your blood pressure and pulse rate, which can be used to evaluate your progress and alert you to changes in your health.

Studies show that the most accurate blood pressure measurements are taken outside of a doctor's office, since a clinical setting and presence of a physician can elevate your blood pressure. Cure “white coat hypertension” by using a Dell Pharmacy automated blood pressure monitor--accurate results in a comfortable and friendly environment.

Be Smart: Ask About a Free Dell Pharmacy Blood Pressure “Smart Card”

Smart Card

Tracking your blood pressure results has never been easier than with the Dell Pharmacy Blood Pressure Smart Card. Once you've received your card from your Dell pharmacist, all you have to do is insert it into the automated blood pressure monitor and remove it once the machine has taken your measurements.

The Smart Card can store up to 30 readings. You can even get a print-out of your average blood pressure and pulse rate from your last 10 visits to share with your pharmacist or physician.

Average Blood Pressure for Women and Men: It's the Best Way to Measure

Single blood pressure readings can vary for a lot of reasons. Maybe you were a little nervous. Or you were chatting with a friend. Or you weren't sitting comfortably. Regardless, one reading won't tell the whole story.

The Public Health Agency of Canada recommends every blood pressure measurement should be an average of at least two individual blood pressure readings, spaced two minutes apart. This will give a more accurate one-time snap-shot of your blood pressure than a single reading.

But the term “average blood pressure” is actually much more than a single snap shot--it should be based on checking your blood pressure twice a day (taking at least two readings each time) for one week.

Your average blood pressure, for women and men across Canada, is the number that will start an important conversation with your pharmacist or doctor...and could ultimately save your life.

Tips For Accurate Blood Pressure Monitoring

If you're tracking your own blood pressure at home or using a Dell Pharmacy kiosk, follow these tips to ensure the most accurate blood pressure measurements:

  • talk to your pharmacist to make sure the cuff size is right for you
  • rest for five minutes prior to taking your first blood pressure measurement
  • wait at least 30 minutes after having caffeine or smoking
  • sit comfortably with your feet flat on the floor, your back supported and your arm resting at heart height
  • wear clothing that is loose around your arm
  • don't talk or eat while you're taking your blood pressure

take multiple readings, with a break of two minutes in between each, and average the results.
